Consulting Hours

Opening hours are Monday to Friday 8.15am - 6.30pm. Telephone bookings for appointments are taken from 8.00am. All consultations are by appointment only:

Doctors 
8:30am until 11:00am and 3:40pm until 5:30pm Monday to Friday.

One doctor each  weekday evening has appointments 4pm untill 6pm. 

Nurses 
The nurses are in surgery Monday to Friday from 8:30 until midday and then again from 2pm until 5:30pm.  When making an appointment to see one of our Nurses please inform the receptionist what it is for, this is to ensure that we book you in with the correct Nurse and also so enough time can be allotted.

Appointments

We operate an advanced access appointment system for making appointments with the GPs.  This means that we aim to see our patients on the day they are ill or when it is more convenient for them, instead of having to book several days in advance.  75% of our appointments are booked in 10 minute intervals, which allows more time for both the patient and Doctor. 

We do have a small number of appointments that can be booked in advance but most of our appointments are opened up each morning.  This system is designed to be flexible to meet the needs of general practice and may from time to time change, depending upon both the demand and resources available. 

Due to an increase in the number of wasted appointments through patients failing to attend without informing the surgery it has become necessary to implement the following policy:

If you repeatedly fail to attend appointments you may be removed from this practice list and will have to find an alternative doctor.

If you cannot attend your appointments for any reason please let us know as soon as possible, we can then offer the appointment to someone else.  The equivalent of two surgeries a month are wasted by non-attended appointments. We would like to thank you for your co-operation.

You can book GP appointments online through   This website is ran by our computer system provider EMIS.  To use this service you need to register - please contact the receptionist who will provide you with your details or alternatively send an e-mail to admin@alpinehousesurgery.co.uk with the names, date of births and addresses of all who want to receive the registration forms.  We will endeavour to send you the forms back via e-mail within 24 hours.

Telephone Advice

If you have a problem or a question which you feel does not merit making an appointment then the doctors are all available for contact by phone.  Please call between 11:30 am and 12 noon or between 2:30 pm and 3:30 pm  Monday to Friday.  The doctors are available to talk to at these times unless they are involved in a clinic.

Home Visits

If you are unable to attend the surgery for an appointment due to ill health or a disability then a home visit can be arranged for you.  Please call the receptionists before 10 am and be ready to give your name, address, telephone number and brief details of what is wrong.

Even though we are happy to see people in their homes it is always better to be seen at the surgery.  This is because not all of our equipment is available at home.  Examination is often not possible due to bad lighting and It is very time consuming.  Four patients can be seen at the surgery in the time it takes to do a home visit.
 

Out of Hours

The hours between 6:30 pm and 8:00 am are covered by a deputising service.  If you need to contact this service during these hours telephone 0845 0450411.  

If it is just general medical advice you need you can also contact NHS Direct on 0845 4647 - this is a nurse led advice service that is available 24 hours a day by phone.  You can also get advice from their website - www.nhsdirect.co.uk

The Walk-in-Centre is available 24 hours a day to see minor illness complaints such as ear ache, sore throats, cough and cold symptoms, simple urinary infections, minor skin problems and rashes and general aches and pains.  They can also provide emergency contraceptive advice and have a minor injuries unit.  The centre is situated on Pinfold Gate in Loughborough.
