Travel Advice & Yellow Fever

If you are travelling abroad this year it is worth checking some time before you go whether you are going to an area that you are likely to need vaccinations for.  Your Travel Agent should be able to give you this information.

If you find out that you may need vaccinations please book in to see one of our Practice Nurses if possible about 6 weeks before you are due to travel, due to the fact that some vaccinations need a course of injections to be given over a few weeks.  While you are seeing the Nurse she will tell you what vaccinations are recommended, whether any malaria cover is needed and will also give some general health information for the time you are abroad.

Please note that some vaccinations and malaria medication are chargeable.

One vaccination that may be recommended to you is yellow fever.  This vaccination can only be done at registered yellow fever centres.  Alpine House Surgery is a Registered Yellow Fever Centre.

We can see both patients that are registered with us and also patients that are registered elsewhere, even if their own surgery offers this service.  This is a vaccination we charge for at the rate of £50 per person.
